Senior Software Engineer (Backend)

  1. Current role

    Senior Software Engineer (L-I → L-II)

Client: Azerion (Improve Digital Marketplace, Multicloud) · Promoted to L-II in Jan 2025

    Career Progression at Vivasoft Limited

    • Senior Software Engineer L-I(Mar 2022 – Dec 2024)
    • Senior Software Engineer L-II(Jan 2025 – Present)
    • Own 7+ of 15+ microservices on the Marketplace (Improve Digital's DSP) as part of a 10+ engineer team working directly with Azerion teams in Europe. Main areas: deal management, reporting and security.
    • Led security remediation after a third-party penetration test: fixed every finding, including tenant data isolation, and the platform is now pentest-certified.
    • Cut the TPI third-party sync from 20 to 6 minutes (−70%) by redesigning indexes, tuning queries and running external API calls in parallel with cached tokens.
    • Brought bulk operations on a 2M+ row table to sub-second responses by moving the workload to MongoDB with isolated per-operation collections. Inserts and deletes of 100K–250K rows had previously been very slow.
    • Wrote optimized reporting queries over Redshift tables with 10–20M+ rows (JOIN vs CTE vs view, indexing), fixed N+1 queries so they run in milliseconds, and built asynchronous report generation on Kafka.
    • Implemented Keycloak SSO for 10K+ users and integrated AWS MediaConvert.
    • Multicloud (2025): built the full backend for Multicloud, a separate Azerion product that brings multi-cloud billing (AWS, GCP, Huawei) into one portal, with forecasting, RBAC and multi-tenant isolation.
    • Keep Marketplace and Multicloud fully covered by unit and integration tests; document features in Confluence; plan sprints, review code and deliver work through Jira.

    Key problems solved

    Slow third-party sync (TPI): 20 min → 6 min

    Problem
TPI syncs large volumes of data to a third party and tracks sync status, and each run took over 20 minutes.
    Action
Redesigned indexes around priority fields, rewrote queries (CTE instead of JOIN where it helped, range filters), split the external API calls and ran them in parallel, and cached auth tokens and configuration to skip repeated login and config calls.
    Result
About 6 minutes (−70%). Going further needs bulk-sync support from the third party, which we have asked for.

Bulk writes on a 2M+ row table: slow → sub-second

    Problem
A heavily used table with 2M+ rows needed inserts and deletes of 100K–250K rows, and even normal searches were slow. Batching helped only slightly, and making it async added complexity.
    Action
Moved the workload to MongoDB with targeted indexes, and stored each operation in its own collection so operations no longer conflict.
    Result
Every response now comes back in under a second.

    Pentest remediation → certified platform

    Problem
A penetration test by a well-known security firm (name confidential) found security and data-isolation issues.
    Action
Handled every finding myself, including tenant data isolation and security hardening.
    Result
    The Marketplace is now pentest-certified.
  2. Software Engineer → Senior Software Engineer

Joined as Software Engineer; promoted to Senior
    • Team lead for 6–10 engineers: hired, mentored and reviewed code.
    • Built Spring Boot ERP services for OS Pharmacy (inventory and expiry tracking, POS, accounting) handling about 1M requests a day, with real-time inventory sync across 200+ branches. The system has since grown to 700+ branches and 3,000+ users.
    • Built pharmacy safety features: alerts that flag potentially dangerous drug combinations, and secure handling of patient data.
    • Built backend services for Oushod Sheba, an online medicine delivery platform with GPS delivery tracking, route planning and secure payments.
    • Led the team that delivered a Restaurant Management System, contributed code to it, and handed it over to the client. It runs on AWS (S3, EC2).
    • Built Alisha's World end to end with two other engineers. Also built Eignert, a German shop-promotion app.
    • Built server-side-rendered web apps with React and Next.js, with Redis caching and relational query tuning.

  3. Junior Software Engineer

    • Mobile Finance Application (fintech client, name confidential): fixed backend bugs in P2P transfers, statements and account management, and redesigned the whole portal in Thymeleaf.
    • Instorage: built server-side-rendered Next.js frontends for a storage-booking system.
    • PI-CMS: worked on a CMS for React apps (TypeScript, Node.js, GraphQL); left mid-development.
